India’s leading steelmaker JSW Steel Limited reported a year-on-year increase of 6 percent in consolidated crude steel production during the third quarter of FY2025-26, reflecting stable operations and strong plant utilisation despite planned maintenance activity.
According to company disclosures, consolidated crude steel output for the October–December 2025 quarter stood at around 7.48 million tonnes, compared with the corresponding period last year. The growth highlights JSW Steel’s operational resilience amid capacity upgrades at key facilities.
Impact of Planned Maintenance
During the quarter, production was partially affected by the temporary shutdown of Blast Furnace-3 at the Vijayanagar plant as part of a planned capacity upgradation programme. The company has indicated that the furnace is expected to resume operations by the end of the fourth quarter of FY26.
Excluding the impact of the shutdown, JSW Steel’s Indian operations continued to operate at high utilisation levels, reflecting strong internal efficiencies and stable demand conditions.
Nine-Month Performance Remains Strong
On a cumulative basis, JSW Steel’s consolidated crude steel production for the April–December FY26 period recorded a double-digit growth on a year-on-year basis, underlining sustained momentum across the financial year despite intermittent operational disruptions.
The majority of production during the quarter was driven by domestic operations, which remain the company’s core output base.
Industry Context
JSW Steel’s production growth aligns with broader trends in India’s steel sector, where demand from infrastructure, construction, and manufacturing segments continues to support output levels. The company remains a key contributor to domestic steel supply and export volumes.
With capacity upgrades nearing completion and utilisation levels remaining healthy, JSW Steel’s production outlook is expected to improve further in the coming quarters.
